Dry January 2027 · Friday 1 January to Sunday 31 January
Dry January 2027, somewhere quiet.
Spend the whole of January away from the usual fridge, the usual Friday and the usual excuses. One calm, sober month with up to three other guests and Sami Adham: simple food, daily movement, short meditations and long conversations.
The honest pitch
Most people can do Dry January at home. Some would rather not.
Around 17.5 million adults in the UK said they planned a month off alcohol for January 2026, according to a Censuswide poll for Alcohol Change UK. In the US, CivicScience found that about one adult in five took part in Dry January 2026. That is a lot of people giving it a go. CivicScience also found that the share who started but did not finish almost doubled, from 12% to 20%.
It's rarely a lack of willpower. It's the same sofa at 6pm, half a bottle of Christmas port, a kind friend who says "go on, it's Friday", and long, dark evenings with nothing planned. A month away removes most of those small decisions at once. That is the whole idea, and it isn't magic.
If you are happy doing it at home, brilliant: use the free tools further down this page. If you'd like to do it properly, once, somewhere calm and with good company, read on.

What a January abroad with Sami looks like
A normal day in a quiet month.
- Early and slow. Water, daylight, then coffee. Phones can wait.
- Movement every day, at your pace: a long walk, a swim, some simple strength work.
- Simple shared meals. Low-carb, keto-style food with some fruit. Intermittent fasting is part of the month; Sami sets each guest's eating window and adjusts it to them. If you feel unwell, you eat.
- 10 to 20 minutes of meditation, always optional.
- Afternoons to explore or rest, and outings together.
- Evenings with coffee and long conversations, not a bar. One free day a week.
You live in your own private flat, about ten minutes' walk from Sami. You keep your own phone, passport, money and key, and you can leave whenever you like.
Who it's for
Is a Dry January abroad right for you?
It may suit you if
- You are 21 or over and can take a month away from work and home.
- You have done a dry month before, and February undid it.
- You want a reset with structure, not a party and not a clinic.
- You like the idea of a small table of four, not a hall of forty.
- You would like to come home with three habits that last, not just 31 ticks.
It is not for you if
- You need medical help to stop drinking. If you drink heavily or every day, stopping suddenly can be dangerous. See a doctor first.
- You want medical or psychological care. This is a healthy-living month: not medical care, and not therapy.
- You want a luxury spa with treatments. It's a simple, calm month.
- You are under 21.
A small calculator
What does a month off give back?
Not a health promise, just arithmetic. Type what you drink in a normal week and what one drink usually costs you.
People who join Dry January often say the same short list at the end: better sleep, more energy, money saved. In one study of 4,232 people, 56% said they slept better and 63% said they saved money. Those are people describing themselves, not a promise for anyone. A 2025 review of 16 studies, led by researchers at Brown University, found similar self-reported benefits and few downsides, apart from a small "rebound" in some people who did not finish the month.
Price
US$10,000 for the month.

Safety first
After the holidays, stop safely.
If you drink heavily or every day, or feel shaky, sweaty or unwell when you go without a drink, see a doctor before you stop. Stopping suddenly can be dangerous. Alcohol Change UK gives the same advice.
Every guest brings a doctor's fit-to-join letter and travel insurance with medical and evacuation cover. The Quiet Month is a healthy-living month: not therapy, and not medical or psychological treatment. How we keep guests safe.
