Why an email a day helps
Alcohol Change UK, the charity behind Dry January, reports that people who use support such as an app or daily emails are roughly twice as likely to get through the month alcohol-free. In a University of Sussex survey of participants, 86% said they saved money, 70% slept better and 66% had more energy (self-reported). A short daily nudge keeps the reason in front of you on the days it fades, especially in week two.
The emails are written in plain words, cite their sources, make no health promises and keep any mention of The Quiet Month to a short note on four days (1, 10, 20 and 31 January).
How it works, and what we keep
- Sign up with your email. Nothing else is asked.
- Confirm with the link we send. Unconfirmed addresses are deleted after 7 days.
- Day 1 arrives on the morning of 1 January 2027. Join late and you start the next morning.
- Leave any time with the one-click link in every email: your address is deleted at once.
We keep only your email address, the list, the page and the date, in our database (stored encrypted at rest by our provider, Cloudflare), and use it for these emails only. Never sold, never shared. Details in the privacy notice.
